Here is a 1g Acer palmatum 'Wou nishiki'. Photo made 4-14-04.
Another Wou nishiki, this one a little older (3-4 years?)
Photos take about 1 week apart, younger leaves photographed on 3/22/05.
Spring leaves from today (4.21.06). The age of this tree is like 6-7 year old. It has not photographed well as an entire plant, but stands about 6-7 ft tall, somewhat twiggy and open. Without a doubt, one of my favorites.
Wou Nishiki has wonderful spring colours, (see pic.1 taken 22nd of April) and the leaf form contrasts well with other Palmatum varieties (see pic.2 taken 10th of May).
Autumn colour, just turning and fully turned respectively:
May 2009, May 2009, August 2007
This is a nice pretty tree which everyone likes but no one takes it home. The spring color gets attracts the attention but other spring trees have a little more pop. The summer color is not strong.
My 'Wou Nishiki' this evening. Very good grower!
Photo 2 shows why that is more of a Wow than a Wou... You have an amazing collection D.
Update pic since I'm next to it
A nice photo of yourself with it would be great for the Cheering ourselves up with maples thread. Did you see the suggestion by Alain and Emery D ?
I did just a little while ago. It's a very good idea. I was thinking which tree or trees I would like to pose in front of lol.
My wife just said, "just be quick and stand there". You are giving some thought, very impressed D.
The spring colour was looking great today
Even on a cloudy day in England, this one will brighten up any area of a garden. Lovely M !!
