Here are photos of a small specimen I acquired over the winter. While not terribly unique if one was to characterize this tree, to see it gives a much different impression. The leaf shape is farily standard but the green color can have a bluish tone at times, especially in the shade. My favorite thing is the way the green petioles on new growth quickly change to a bright red--it is a great contrast. From the Vertrees photo of this tree, one can expect great fall color. While it is a very old variety, we do not see it a great deal in cultivation. At this point, I think it deserves more widespread use and availability.
