Oh yes totally agree, my Flavescens is very much more yellow on leafing out. The difference in Autumn is also far more obvious.
I know this is going to hurt Derek, but if you have any duplicates that you can bring yourself to sell to make room for one more, I’d highly recommend Filigree. Sorry.
It is a recommendation you have made before Luke 'twice' I think, Lol. I have it logged in my mind to add at a later date. You don't have to apologise my friend.....
Just remembered.. I stated 4 main green dissectums. Forgot about Seiryu. I repotted my rescue tree that had been neglected at some garden centre. Got it for less that a quarter of what is it’s worth so I do hope it survives. I untangled it, pruned it and repotted it paying attention to the roots. It it makes it then it’ll be a fabulous looking tree because it’s got good shape... providing you can look past the dozen stakes and metres of garden string lol ;-)
Derek I’d love you to have a drive down/up here one day and come and have a look at my arrangement. I can see us chatting over a coffee for a good couple of hours...
I often think it is important to look at a tree for what it's going to look like. 'after' we get them from a nursery than to expect an instant perfect tree. So taking a photo of your string and stakes etc etc is a great diary of how you eventually got it to how you wanted it. In years to come you will be able to show this to the new members that arrive with no knowledge of maples training at all.
2nd June 2021 and my Viridis this morning is just starting to pick up after being hit by all the frosts in April.
24th June 2021 and some interesting colours on my Viridis for this time of the year. But second flush is always so interesting to see.
Really enjoying this little guy so far. Popped him under one of the bigger trees and he's just doing his thing:
Sometimes the very early starts in Spring are just as fascinating to me as full leaf. Especially so with Viridis. It twists and curls to open. 4th April 2022 very early morning.
Here's mine. Looking at my photos from last year, I'm surprised by how much bigger he feels this spring. He's done well for himself!
18th May 2022 and some lovely fresh Spring greens on my Viridis. The lime green at this time of year is the best IMO.
