Acer palmatum 'Uncle Ghost'

2nd April 2021 and here we go for another year, I do hope more people add this one to their collections. It really is a great cultivar.

 

4th May 2021 and my Uncle ghost is now opening enough to post it for Luke @Luke’s Maples, as I know he really wants this one and so it is important for him to see it's development, to see if indeed it is for him.
I do hope others enjoy it also, as it is very underrated IMO.

 

My new ghost has arrived, just in time for a cup of tea, love it.

I had to have Kinran. Osakazuki I need so I can compare with Hogyoku and Ichigyoji. I have had an interest in Nathan for a while so that went in there, and last but not least I have become really good friends recently with a guy from work, and he took an interest in my collection. He started to buy one or two for his garden and one was a Phoenix. Anyway, it was from a cheap supplier and had not been looked after or packaged up well and it died after about 2 weeks. This will be a gift for him.

 

That is a very kind thing to do Luke and a maple friend at work. That's really good. You must get him on the forum. The more the merrier.

My small Uncle Ghost was losing some colour, but it's coming back now I've moved it to a sunnier spot. Let's see what happens:

 

Not too much afternoon sun though Xi, the reticulates are very sensitive.
Yours is looking very colourful though I must say.

 

That's a good point, D -- this weekend is really the first sun we've had this year, so I'm keeping a close eye on it and ready to move it into a slightly shadier spot if this placement seems too much for it. I suppose that's one of the benefits of container gardening, that they can be moved around so easily to see what works and what doesn't!

 

Agreed and that's something Luke @Luke’s Maples does so well with all of his.
I think the next three days is going to be in the mid twenties for you, so bringing it back into some shade after 1pm might be a good idea Xi.

 

7th June 2021 and I think Uncle ghost is fast becoming my favourite ghost, at this time of the year especially.

 

My Uncle this morning, after a little wash to remove some bird mess.
Not really sure what I expected from this one but I'm loving what I see, especially now the veins have started to show.
