Acer palmatum 'Tsuma beni'

September 3rd 2020 and Autumn is very quickly upon us now. But new growth!!? Yes there is !!
Such a dark cloudy day today, that any colours are very welcome. Next to the greens this one stands out a lot at this time of the year.

 

5th September 2020 and the diary continues, each day has a new colour on the leaves now. And tbh some rather strange colours this year.
So much interest in this cultivar, so I make no apologies for posting it again. The intensity of the colours is amazing. Deeper and deeper orange / red.

 

10th September 2020 and my maples are now racing into Autumnal colours. So warm and sunny at the moment, it does seem a bit strange though.
So many yellows appearing in the reds now, such a lovely mottled leaf at this time of the year.

 

25th September 2020 and some colours are more subtle than others. But that is the beauty of maples they are all so different and often the same tree is different year on year. This is why they are loved the world over.

 

4th October 202, my Tsuma Beni has turned. The mix of oranges are IMO one of the best on this cultivar.

 

10th October 2020 and my Tsuma Beni is going to be a short lived display this year. So added this one today before the leaves brown and drop. Some have already started.

 

15th October 2020 and although the red finger nails have dissapeared, Tsuma Beni is the most delightful at this time of the year.

 

28th April 2021 and Luke @Luke’s Maples mentioned yesterday about the red fingernails on his Tsuma gaki, so I thought I would try and get the early red tips of my Tsuma Beni.

 

4th May 2021 and I wanted to show how my Tsuma Beni's flowers are progressing. This is the best I can do with my camera.

 

13th May 2021 and after some warmth, my Tsuma beni is starting to look nice.

 

18th May 2021 and I wanted to give an update on the flowers on my Tsuma beni.

 

29th May 2021 and I've been asked a few times about the red fingernails on this one. Well as can be seen, not exactly red, but more of a rust colour.

 

19th June 2021 and my Tsuma beni enjoyed all the rain yesterday. It really freshened it up.

 

6th July 2021 and my Tsuma beni is very slow this year. I will be anxious about it in 2022.

 

12th July 2021 and I wanted to show how my Tsuma beni is holding onto the red tips.

 

18th April 2022 and I waited to post this one until the leaves were more out.

No red fingernails just yet, but I love the greens.

 

3rd May 2022 and now the red fingernails are here on my Tsuma beni.

 

10th May 2022 and I was hoping the red tips would show better on camera this morning. But they are more distinct now.

 

14th May 2022 and I wanted to show how dark green this cultivar can go heading into Summer.

 

16th May 2023 and another season starts for my Tsuma beni. I did mention the other day about how much alike this and Tsuma gaki are.
Both have the lovely red fingernails.

 

23rd June 2023 and my Tsuma beni showing some rather interesting foliage. I do like the contrasts of the mellow Summer colours.

 

14th April 2024 and my Tsuma beni with lovely Spring greens and a touch of red fingernails appearing.
