23rd November 2020 and the speckles I'm getting on my Phoenix leaves had to be captured to show that Autumn colours continues in my garden.
28th April 2021 and so it starts. The first leaves of my Phoenix with all the colours of this lovely cultivar there already. Small but beautiful IMO.
Among those that suffered from the frost, I was afraid this one (an air-layer made a couple of years ago) was a goner : Not only most of the leaves were burnt, but I knew it was pot-bound and I should have repotted it. But it's recovering, I will repot it in June if it's rainy enough, or slip-pot it :
I think it's June second flush for quite a lot this year Alain. Sadly they are not such vibrant colours.
6th May 2021 and after a very slow start for my Phoenix, here it is trying it's very best under difficult conditions to leaf out.
1st June 2021 and now my Phoenix has leafed out. I checked the one I gave to my daughter last year and both are at the same stage. All rather slow. But going strong now.
6th July 2021 and the last Phoenix I have is putting out new growth, it is loving these conditions this Summer. Cool and wet..
This air-layer is now about 80 cm from the soil of the pot. The red is not as deep as the "Deshojo family", but it's got very nice spring colours (the 'Deshojo' I have is a little later) :
Not so colourful this year? Mine was shining red a month ago (see above), but the colours are changing, a bit like Karl's :
Yorkshire Phoenix :) :) The frost hit this so hard last year thought it was a goner , heavily pruned and fed over the past 8 month and it's bounced right back
I always held-off my desire to get one since I thought it was just like the Deshojo group. How wrong I was. Yup, wrong indeed.
9th November 2023 and it seems that i always take a photo at this time of my Phoenix. So here are 2 this year. b
This is my Phoenix although it’s looking slightly different to some already posted here. First year… got the positioning wrong to start with, think the wind hit it a little but it’s doing okay now.
