    Hi everyone,

My wife & I just purchased an Acer Palmatum Osakazuki. We want to plant it in an east facing plot which gets good morning sun & is well protected by evergreens.

The plot had a tree in it until 2 years ago when the previous owner had it removed as the roots were causing some damage & lifting the footpath. My main concern is that the plot seems to have an infestation of some find of fungus that looks like small brown mushrooms.

Can I plant the Acer into this or should I be treating the fungus first. Could the fungus damage or kill the tree? I cannot even consider planting it until I'm confident we won't do any damage. PLEASE HELP!

Depends on what kind of fungus it is.
