Acer palmatum 'Momoiro koyasan'

I'm just amazed by how much growth this little guy has put out since May: it genuinely makes some of my bamboo look slow-growing by comparison!

Now I'm looking forward to seeing all those pink leaves next spring, now they have so much more branch-space to take advantage of.

 

Thinking of next Spring already, now that is good planning Xi.

This little guy was my favourite last year: he's just starting to leaf out now with a more subtle peach than last year:

 

Mine as well Xi, strange that you don't see it too often on the forum. How could anybody resist those colours.

 

To my surprise, the new leaves are almost identical to 'Red Wine'. The bark of the latter is red, but that's about the only difference this year.



The sun is going down, the light is different, but on the right 'Redwine' (see the dark red bark in the bottom right), and 'Momoiro koya-san' on the right :

this cultivar is beautiful! I put it on my list! protection against the sun is recommended, right?

 

I fund it handles the sun very well.

 

18th April 2022 and mine is underway, nothing like the amazing tree of @Jerry Norbury, but I'm pleased with it.

 

Not as impressive as it was last year (and not nearly the show-stopper that other people's on this thread are!), but still a pretty little thing:

9th May 2022 and my Momoiro koyasan is showing some lovely shades of green today.

 

15th May 2022 and Summer colours appearing, plus new leaves on my Momoiro koyasan this morning.

 

This guy missed out on the really vivid spring colours this year, but it's making up for it now with that startlingly pink new growth over the older greens:

 

Second flush are often smaller, but so pretty, as yours shows Xi.

 

19th June 2022 and a very happy Momoiro Koyasan in my garden this year, all bodes well for a good Autumnal display.

 

13th November 2022 and mine, that stayed in the shade, is still green :
