Here is my new Acer palmatum 'Miss Piggy', brought home yesterday from Oxford UK. It will be looked after very well and will always have a story. 'Thankyou Luke'. I will update the thread again in 2021.
Good morning Luke, not disappointed at all. The form is very full as you can see. But it's early days, it may be one that will need some regular aesthetic pruning each year, but we will, see. Brought her undercover last night due to this awful wind. How is it there in Oxford?
I’m glad you are happy with it Derek. It is a bit of an oddball and not to everybody’s taste but I always liked something a bit different. the Weather is crap drown here. Either hammering it down with rain or blowing a gail. Not as much of a problem as my last property with that awful (but beautiful) field at the back acting as a wind tunnel. I’d spend many a morning picking them up, checking for broken branches etc. This place has a little more protection so less of a worry. But.. it still not doing my beautiful trees any good whatsoever.
That I am glad to hear Luke. I spent last evening trying to move as much under cover as I could. It's blowing at 54 mph atm and rain expected shortly. It feels more like October tbh. Let's hope none of us get any damage. Tomorrow and onwards looks OK.
Haha, no need it was meant as a bit of fun. Seriously though, those markings are quite unique and very attractive. You have my permission to enjoy it lol ;-)
6th June 2021 and this is fast becoming quite a favourite in my collection. I was so lucky to get it.
28th April 2022 and here we go with my Miss Piggy. Got this from Luke @Luke’s Maples a couple of years ago. Hope he sees I'm taking care of it.
9th June 2022 and the colours of my Miss Piggy are quite nice atm. A pleasure to look at IMO. It won't get any bigger than this btw.
25th April 2024 and my Miss Piggy I bought from Luke is doing fine. Still in apot and I think I will keep it there and train it into a nice shape.
