Introduced by Talon Buccholz. This cultivar is a stunning red to orange in spring. I just purchased it this past winter so I can't speak to the rest of the year yet, other than I know it is green through summer, with "vivid orange and red in autumn" according to Mr. Maple. This was the maple I've been most excited to see leaf out this spring, and it has lived up to my hopes! I'll post updates as it progresses this year. Here's a link with more about it from Matt and Tim Nichols.
Mine still has excellent yellow color in mid May despite a very stormy Spring. This tree had a pretty bad Anthracnose outbreak so I bring it inside when it rains to keep the leaves dry. Despite this, it has merely faded to a strong golden yellow and the new growth comes in orange. If the sun exposure was more favorable I would expect it to hold its orange and then yellow the whole year. The color stands out compared to my other maples and it pushes new growth quite vigorously. I'm expecting it to have a bushy habit since it pushes leaves in every direction.
