This has to be the darkest leaf I have come across yet on an Acer. Almost black!

'Shrub form maple with black-red maroon leaves in spring. In summer, the leaves turn to a dark brown-maroon. Fall color is scarlet. Bark throughout the year is very dark maroon but the bark tends to look black in the winter months. Upright tree, reaching a height of 20 feet at maturity.'

The leaves have green veins that are prominent on a few leaves. Very nice.
