Acer palmatum 'Little Snowflake ' or Ko Yuki, is a new introduction to my garden in 2018. It is only just showing it's true colours since going in the ground in September 2019. In the pot it was very plain tbh, but now I am very pleased with the leaf colouring. It is in full sun for 8 hours of the day, so a fairly good tree for the sunnier garden. These are the leaves on the 4th July, quite striking IMO.
27th July 2020, even with a couple of bites out of the leaves, this is still pretty. I like to show that in every garden we all suffer from pests. It's the imperfection that sometimes is rather nice IMO. It is very easy to show on this forum only the perfect leaf or tree. But nature is not like that and our gardens are not competition entries.
14th August 2020, rain at last here in England and Oh how my Maples needed it. Just over two weeks until Autumn starts here in the UK and the colours are rapidly changing. Trying to take as many photos as possible to keep up to date with the requests. Very subtle changes now, but after all the rain I will watch and post updates on this one regularly. Looks like it will do well in a few weeks time.
All the colours are appearing now on all my maples and as promised I will keep the photo diary going to show the transformation. So much rain now and new growth, the new shoots are loving this weather at last. Oh for a better camera that shows the complexity of every leaf. Close as I could get, but hopefully you get the picture. !!!? 23rd August 2020 photo.
Well it's the last day of August 2020 and as we have had a lot of rain and cooler weather here in England over the past two weeks, all my maples are doing well for the time of year. Ko Yuki or Littke Snowflake, you choose!!! All I know is that it is very pretty.
13th September 2020 and the sun is shining and it is getting warmer and warmer once again. So I hope my photo conveys this lovely near Autumn day. Also known as Ko yuki.
25th September 2020 and some colours are more subtle than others. But that is the beauty of maples they are all so different and often the same tree is different year on year. This is why they are loved the world over. Little Snowflake or Ko yuki is a very pleasing maple to have in any garden IMO.
5th October 2020 and very ominous dark skies that made my flash go off when taking photos this morning. My Little Snowflake or Ko Uki just glowed.
10th October 2020 and my Little Snowflake does have that appearance of snowflakes but with the Autumnal twist of colour.
Loved taking pics of mine before I sold it. Great leaf shape. Interesting really as the leaves can get quite large, but definitely have the resemblance to snowflakes. And they have some subtle Reticulation too. Very pretty:-)
