A few years ago I bought nice amount of various Acer palmatum maples from one liquidated nursery. Plants of about 1,5 - 2,5 m in bad condition but it was really bargain. Some of them has been labeled some not. This one I introduce you has a label Acer palmatum 'Hesse'. It has nice yellowish palmate leaves (~ 3-4 cm) with thin red margin. I've never heard about a variety Hesse, only Hessei exists but it is completly different. So I think the maple is either misslabeled or there is some spelling error. Anyone can identify this variety? Or some hint about the right name? First photo is from april, second from may. Ota
I think your plant name has been wrongly spelled (should be Hessei) and then wrongly labelled as well as it is not A P 'Hessei' :)
From the pictures look at A.p. 'Aureum' esp if that is available in your region. Hard to know for sure when they are mislabeled. Either way looks unique and worthy. Justin
Thank you very much for your reply! :-) I've had the same impression the maple is mislabeled. It's why I'm trying to find the right name. A. p. 'Aureum' is realy good tip. It could be. Thanks jwsandal! Ota
