Sheila, I've picked up a small 'Kinshi' it's just breaking bud now. Was wondering how much sun this plant seems to prefer.
'Kinshi' is coming on very strong right now. It's way ahead of 'Koto no Ito'. My plant seems to be more upright than Silver Surfer's. I'll add a pic of the entire plant tomorrow. It has an extremely enchanting, downy like quality.
Poetry,I am so sorry, I must have missed this thread last year. Our one is growing under a high cover provided by Oak trees, but towards the edge, so that a lot of light and dappled sun do reach it. It is great to see your pics and know that you you find the young growth enchanting. Winter here has been unusually long and cold. I have been very envious all the beautiful pics of spring growth of the different maples, that have been posted on UBC the past few weeks! Hope it happens here..... very soon. P.S. here is the tree in the first part of august. it has become more green from the yellowish green color of spring. I have added a photo of the fall color
