Does anyone have photos and information on a Japanese Maple named KI SETSUDDE? I have heard that this tree is supposed to have rose color leaves in spring and hold into the summer. The color sounds intriguing and enticing. Photos of this cultivar taken in spring-summer-autumn would be nice to see if anyone has them to upload to this UBC site. Thanks.

I have one of these plants, and took a couple of photos for you. I've had mine growing in a fairly shady spot. Here's the description from the originator:

Ki Setsudoe is a seedling of an Acer circinatum which was growing in proximity with a variety of Acer palmatum cultivars, so it is thought to be a hybrid. Its growth rate is about half that of Acer circinatum, and its natural tendency is to grow into a multi-trunked large shrub of perhaps 10-12ft height and width. The name means "(color) in all seasons".

I purchased a maple labeled Acer palmatum Ki setsudde. Is this the same as acer circinatum Ki setsudoe? It appears to be the same tree. How should I label my beautiful maple? Thanks for any help.

Sounds more than likely the same plant. Definitely not a palmatum, possibly a hybrid between Acer circinatum and unknown Japanese maple species, although the circinatum parentage has been questioned. As it is a hybrid between different maple species it would be valid to simply label it Acer 'Ki setsudoe', with the advantage of sidestepping the parental species questions.
