I just notice this cultivar wasn't listed. 'Katsura Hime' suppose to be the dwarf version of 'Katsura'. Here is my 'Katsura Hime'

I'm liking the hime's more and more these days. I think these are perfect for the millenials who only have small courtyards or apartment balconies to grow a maple. Glad you created a thread for it D.

@LoverOfMaples, how different do you find this from regular 'Katsura'? Internode distances don't look noticeably shorter than 'Katsura', are leaves smaller?

Hey @maf, the only difference I can tell between the two as of now is that:

    'Katsura Hime'
    -holds it color long
-mature leaves are a bit larger
    -fast grower

    'Katsura'
    - smaller consistent mature leaves

'Katsura Hime' woke up about a month later than 'Katsura' this year. Colors seem to be the same.

Katsura hime just starting to show, May 2. This put on almost 3' of growth last year. Perhaps this individual was not grafted on dwarfing rootstock?
