is very difficult to find, only one nursery in EU have this maple ( a few number/year) is Guy Maillot erable France the link is above..i not know if Maillot delivery in USA .send one mail to Guy for info . :)
i have been an "acerholic" recently and have collected about 75 cultivars in the past year. Will be resurrecting some threads hahaha!
That's interesting Alex. Is this a buyer beware maple ? I hope not, as it is really very pretty, especially looking at Karl's photo.
Had one of these last year , wouldn't have another one of these given !!!! died after the spring they haven't got this one right yet , don't think they ever will.
The leaf should be pure white with a deep red edging , very pretty if you can get it to come out this colour. A very expensive graft to play with in my opinion, i think the under stock you have to have with this one with the green leaf tends to suck the life out of the above tree it's supporting and just takes over.
after the year 2009 i buy another two in the photo is the only Izu no Odoriko tha survive two years but dead after this amazing sprout (pic date 2019)
in the facebook group "maples" there is Mr. Masayoshi Yano and one time i ask to Mr.Yano where is the best way for cultivation ,same rare cultivar like Beni kosode ,Izu no Odoriko etc. ;the reply was is :in the greenhouse with the shade cloth.
