Some good pics on Esveld's site as you say
Junkers Nursery has the following description:

    ACER palmatum 'Golden Pond'
The name is intended to conjure images of a golden lake...since this cultivar will grow considerably wider than tall and develops bright golden yellow autumn colour. Through the summer it is mid-green, but I notice a bronze tinge to the young growth which is quite distinctive. Otherwise it is similar in leaf shape and colouring to 'Hogyoku' - though the habit is quite the opposite.

Looks like it would need a lot of space from this description, but it is certainly one I would like to add to my own collection :)

    Thak you whis4ey.
Maybe that's why i cant find any pics of this tree in containers or in small spaces.
Also esveld say that the height goes aprox 300cm.. i didnt know this tree was a big one in width..
I decided i want a Maple with a wide form to put in a 120cm-Width/50cm-height Flower Box, i excluded Dissectums and "Vertess book said" that this could be an option, i am still very interested in find a better image of this maple.

Thought i would take this oppertunity to reply my "1st Post" on this forum for Acer tree lovers, i bought this Acer Palmatum "Golden Pond" purely by accident as a small graft without any leaves last November from Hippopottering nurseries in the UK.

Wasn't looking for this paticular cultivar but was assured that this was quite a spectacular looking treee once estabalished and the stucture of the plants "branches" at that time looked very promising for the future, looked as though it would form a pretty well canopied tree.
Through the summer it had a nice green leaf colouring and now that is turning into a lovely as the name would suggest golden colour, will plant out later in the year and see how it fairs have a nice spot between a "Shaina" and "Beni Maiko" in mind.
I seem to be like everyone else started with one Acer now have over 50" love em".

In reply to 'Francis' just to keep you updated the Golden pond is now begining to show a decent amount of new growth for this year. If you look at the first post pics (2011) the photo shows a basic amount of leaf structure and is of a unifom shape but as 'Whis4ey' stated on the (27th 2011) this cultivar is noted for it's growth outwards rather than being a strong upright grower.

Last year 2012 was a shocking year in this country (UK) regards the weather and this plant certainly suffered in the never ending rain and dull none sunny months plus there was hardly any noticeable change in the plant, so when the leaves finally dropped the pot size was increased slightly a new growing medium was installed and the plant was transfered, also a new position in the garden which now alllows full sun for most of the day and as you can see we have a far better looking plant for this year, a lot more mass of leaves and a very conspicuious growth outwards on either side of the plant.

Hopefully now i will get to see a difference in the general appearance of the plant and will post more pictures in the fall to see if we have a better colouration in the leaves.
