Good idea N, as we saw in @Luke’s Maples posting. Always worth a try rather than removing limbs.
That's an excellent thought! (though oh no, I'll have to drink some champagne on this lovely Saturday evening to 'liberate' the cork to use. Oh, the humanity...!)
The sacrifices we gardeners have to make Eh!! Lol.
It's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it!
6th June 2021 and the days are getting longer and warmer, so it's nice when a maple gives and gives, and when others are having a little rest for this year. So here is my Emerald Lace in full flow.
11th June 2021 and here are new shoots on my Emerald Lace in full sun. It will cope with this btw.
28th June 2021 and my Emerald lace is putting out new growth everywhere atm. It's enjoying these conditions.
New(ish) growth on Emerald Lace. I had a bit of an accident when staking this tree a few weeks ago (oops!) but to its credit it's come through and seems pretty happy. If it keeps up I might actually dare post a full pic of what I've done to it come autumn!
Fresh and green, you can't ask for anymore than that Xi.
14th July 2021 and my Emerald Lace is having a slower growing season this year. But a little new growth is still quite pretty.
I am so impressed with this little tree: it took my terrible accident with it like a champ, and just keeps thriving. If it keeps on like this, I'll have the confidence to post a 'full body' pic after the winter once the damage is a little less obvious (...yeah, right now it's really obvious and I have guilt-pangs whenever I look at it from certain angles!) :
11th April 2022 and a few new shoots are just opening. Some warm weather will help it move along quickly, so the next week should help.
Always feels so delicate this cultivar… just coming through.
Love the height you have attained with this one. So many are lower.
26th May 2022 and now in full leaf and growing nicely in my garden.
Mine is now in almost full shade, though it can be in semi-shade with no problem. I have to find a place for it so it can get more sun...
16th November 2022 and very late to turn this year, but worth the wait IMO.
19th November 2023 and a very orange year this year for my Emerald Lace.
