Ok, I have not found any info on the tree but I can say I like it. This is year second year with it, it is similar to Katsura but it seem to have smaller leaves with more of a yellow color. The growth of it is nice, it grows upright, i did have a little leaf burn at the top but very minor.
Another Stephen Rolph find Xi. He does come up with some rare maples. Always worth a look on his site.
I don't know how he does it -- he always has things I haven't seen anywhere else, and for the cost they're always worth a punt!
Here's Clarabell. It worried me for a few weeks: dropped all of its leaves all of a sudden and then did nothing. Fortunately it's put out a whole new flush, so whatever upset it seems to have passed and it's doing well again, fingers crossed!
The shape of this cultivar lends itself to a special position near a Japanese lantern or stone temple perhaps !!? Watching this one closely Xi, very pretty.
Oooh I like that idea -- I have plenty of lanterns, so once it gets a little bigger and stronger (it really scared me with that leaf-drop!) I shall consider moving it out of the sheltered nursery and see what I can position it by for best effect!
