Out of all of my acers this is the one I am most impressed by given where it was to what it has become in a year! You never know how things will turn out which is what makes Acer trees so appealing!
I have one of these, it’s very densely leaved, looked amazing in the spring but has suffered quite a lot of browning and dieback even though it’s in a well sheltered spot..bit strange..
Interesting......mine is more or less in full sun with little die back/scorching so far, touch wood! Go figure!
@Mani and R @dicky5ash, I dont know about you two, but this is a strange year for many of our trees not reacting as we would expect. Cannot even say its due to thousands of miles apart, as our US friends are, then at least there is the definate climate difference. Only 60 ish miles between you both. A fascinating year !!!?
Not been in this game long but I'm learning you can have all the theoretical knowledge in the world but in practice you never know what is going to work/not work for you, with your particular growing conditions, with all the variables attached to those!
Also you can do pretty well with no theoretical knowledge..and just try to apply reasonable sensible logic..but I have found it extremely helpful learning from all the helpful knowledgeable people on here
The variation of colour currently on mine....second photo doesnt quite capture how the pink is almost illuminuous.....the last two leaves were a real shock (prompting this post) as I didnt get that colour last year. It's not quite September yet!
@Mani good evening Mani. Absolutely beautiful, so glad you posted this. What will the next few weeks bring!!?????
Evening D! Actually, I really dont know! This time last year I only had 5 trees and I didnt really get to enjoy any autumn colours because their leaves were mostly shrivelled. I've more than doubled my tree count now and have none with shrivelled leaves, touch wood! So, curious/excited to see what happens! I hope I live to see it!!
@Mani doubled your collection eh Mani, once the bug hits it hits hard. No hope for you now. Lol. I am very impressed that you have no shrivelled leaves, you are obviously looking after them very well. Look forward to seeing your colours on the thread in the coming weeks. Hope you are well after reading your last comment Mani. Of course you will live to see it. 'Positive thinking'.
Nooo, i can fight this bug!!! I can, I can, I can!!! Can't I? Don't worry, I am well but no-one knows what's around the corner! I try not to take that for granted!
@Mani glad to hear that Mani. But regarding the maple bug, sorry but I think you are officially and totally hooked, Lol.
