Still some good colour on this one amongst the green undertones:
Easily a week of difference on the colour change with mine Xi. No remnants of April frost damage on yours. You have it very well protected there.
Thanks D - this one feels like quite a tough little tree, which is always nice when you don't have to worry about them as much as certain of the others!
Yes it is Xi. Doesn't ever seem to suffer from extremes in temperatures at all.
8th June 2021 and on a bright sunny and warm morning, my Beni Otake was looking quite nice, so it deserved a photo to share.
27th June 2021 and my Beni Otake going more green, but with hints of second flush about to start.
Some vivid new growth on my little Beni Otake:
Love that contrast Xi.
12th July 2021 and my very green Beni otake. Not much sun these past few weeks to keep the reds.
Very green at the bottom, very red right at the top. Quite fun to see!
holding its colors fairly well
Beni Otake putting out some big wide leaves on the new growth - I'm always amused at how dramatically different the leaf-shapes are at different times of year. Mine's much darker than @wind-borne 's vivid beauty, though!
29th March 2022 and my delicate Beni otake has just started for another year.
Mine's waking up here too!
Is that the one that snapped in half last year? If so it's doing very well.
That's the one! You can barely tell at all unless you're up close and know where to look: the new leader looks like it was always meant to be there, I'm so happy with it.
(Great memory, by the way! :) )
6th April 2022 and after seeing @Xi-feng specimen at the weekend, I thought I would give an update on mine.
Slowly but surely is my Beni otake this year.
Look at those delecate fresh leaves, @Acerholic -- it's a beauty!
Thanks Xi. Aren't we lucky !!
Showing that 'bamboo leaf' off to the best effect:
23rd April 2022 and my Beni otake has come out to play.
Bowing beneath the weight of water...
Following day, floating with a dry overcast sky
9th May 2022 and different colours to G @wind-borne, but a continent apart will do this.
@Acerholic, surprised the colors haven't changed here as well as we haven't had any sun to speak of for more than minutes at a time.
5"/125mm rain in the last week and raining at the moment...
