Took these a few minutes ago after D @LoverOfMaples posted his. A few thousand miles apart but both think alike about this one and most others tbh.
@LoverOfMaples, 4 years now, such a slow grower, but I don't care tbh, it's so darned cute. Thanks for the compliment D , between us we might get a grown up Beni Hime in 20 years or so, lol.
Lol D you are right. Slow grower is so true. It really surprised me with the amount of growth it put on this year.
@LoverOfMaples, yes agreed D, think we will both have to update this thread over the coming years, so that people can see what they are going to buy and how long this cultivar takes to get to any size at all.
@Acerholic I've been thinking about keeping all of my tree updated on here. That way we can watch the progress from year to year. I've notice a lot of the threads in the cultivar section haven't been update in years.
@LoverOfMaples, 'agreed D', some are 9 years old. Amazing maples did the most, but he does not come on this forum anymore. Which I think is a real shame.
@LoverOfMaples, me as well D, lost a lot to FB apparently. Hoping the Cheering ourselves up with maples thread will entice some back. They are missed.
11th August 2020 still very hot and in fact yesterday was the hottest I've ever seen in my garden. Ground temperature hit 48° C by my trees. They are all now suffering. But I will continue the Summer diary as requested. So pleased it's still looking oh so pretty!!!
17th August 2020, now three days of heavy rain and my trees are picking up at last. Lots of PM's requsteing more of my Beni hime. I think a lot of nurseries are going to be getting a lot of orders this Autumn for this little gem.
27th August 2020 the winds have died down at last. Some suffered more than others. 10 days on and still putting out new growth, surely it has to end soon !!!
Well its the beginning of September 2020 and the dew is appearing on the leaves. Together with the fast changing colours, it's that time of year of joy in the maple garden. And even now, more new growth on my Beni Hime.
A lot of PM's last night asking about many of my cultivars, so here this morning, 11th September 2020 is my Beni Hime.
19th September 2020 and Summer is ending this weekend according to forecasts. Bright early morning sun is still helping maples in my garden to look nice. My little Beni Hime now has so many colours, it really is a happy tree.
October 6th 2020 and very wet, but with early morning sunshine it is making my maples look rather pretty IMO. Beni Hime looks especially nice this morning and is giving lots of Autumnal colours.
3rd November 2020 and my Beni Hime is only just starting to turn. I am glad it is a late cultivar to give Autumn colour as most of my trees are now bare.
7th November 2020 and posting this as I've been asked how long do the leaves last on this cultivar in Autumn. Well as can be seen, no drop at all as yet.
