All photos are taken the same day on the same plant (4.21.06). The more I watch thematsumarae group of maples, the more I am amazed at how the color up and how their colors change. While it has not been a strong grower for me, it has been ever-changing and I look forward to this palnt every year.

For post 500 it had to be a great photo, so I found this one that I took the other day. The sun obscures the details of the plant but shows another quality that is to be appreciated--the change in character a little sun can provide late in the day.

    Thank you, Charlie

I'm really astonished at how bright this is in my yard.

I am glad to see it is out of the pot and in the ground, I almost planted it in my garden this year, I will stick with the one in the photo above.

Here are two different azuma murasaki, one of them leafed out a little sooner than the other. The litter red one has been in a container for two years and the darker one was dug out of a field last fall.

I'm still waiting for mine to leaf out! Even so, the enjoyment I received from it over the winter months more than offsets the impatience I feel for it to catch up with the others. Currently, it does have a few partially uncurled leaves that are consistent with other photos in this thread.

The leaves on this one have changed to green.

I added a photo taken 4 oct 11, the tree is now all green with a tint of yellow.

Mine has been a top five favorite this year. It leafed out red (with orange tones) and now has red leaves with green centers. LOVE it.

My yard is currently in shade so the yummy brilliance I get in the sunshine is MIA. But you can get the idea from the current photos about what I am seeing.

And, on reflection, I'll put this tree at number 2 favorite for this year behind Geisha Gone Wild. I have a feeling my Ukigumo will surpass it next year after adapting to its new location. But for now, this tree is runner up for the crown.

Believe it or not, the profile picture still doesn't do the tree justice. As I was walking into the house today it caught my eye from across the yard. And I noticed the combination of orange/red with lime centers combined to create the optical illusion of an orange tree. LOVE it.

New to me this season is my small 'Azuma Murasaki'. Does have good leaf form and colour. Will not go into the ground for at least another two years.
I will update the photo thread in the Autumn.

I know it's only been a day since my last photo on this cultivar, but I couldn't resist another one. 5th August 2020. I cannot promise I won't add more very soon.

14th August 2020, rain at last here in England and Oh how my Maples needed it. Just over two weeks until Autumn starts here in the UK and the colours are rapidly changing.
Trying to take as many photos as possible to keep up to date with the requests.

August 15th 2020, the photo diary continues as promissed. Everything apart from just a few have held up very well. The heavy rain over the past couple of days has helped a lot. I think we will get a reasonable Autumn show this year fingers crossed.
