One of my favourites as well D, alas my one is no longer with us.
Here's a picture in it's heyday.
Wonderful, but so sad you no longer have it N. What happened?
I'm not sure, I've lost three in that particular bed over the years, one a beautiful Shishigashira, there's a large bamboo growing about eight foot away that I suspect may have had something to do with it, or it is just a too exposed position, shame really as they both grew beautifully for a few years and then just didn't make it through a winter.
That would be my thoughts on their demise N. They really starve the soil of water. And so very competitive and as we know maples don't do well with competitors.
I do hope you get another Ariadne N. It is an amazing maple.
17th May 2021 and now the leaves have opened, the reticulation can now be fully appreciated.
15th June 2021 and my Ariadne has leafed out to some lovely colours. It's always my favourite when I see the leaves like this.
3rd July 2021 and I just wanted to show my Ariadne because it's my favourite. No other reason really, Lol.
10th July 2021 and a very wet Ariadne due to a typical British Summer.
17th September 2021 and my Ariadne is doing everything right this year. I think I'm going to have a nice display this Autumn.
Glad I could share it.
Here are my Ariadne taken today 3/19/2022:
In my top 5 of all time favourites. Beautiful photo @oattao54
One of, if not my favourite as we start the year…
At the top of my list as well @stg
21st April 2022 and I wanted to show just how late a lot of my trees are here in leafing out. This is my Ariadne a few minutes ago.
Ariadne, so pleased to have one of these again, I'd forgotten quite how beautiful they are.
Thats a beauty N. This cultivar is in my top 5. Perhaps no 1.
25th April 2022 and getting there slowly but surely my Ariadne now.
I do enjoy the droopy leaves in the Spring.
1st May 2022 and now the unmistakable leaves of Ariadne is showing why this is in the top 5 of favourites in my garden.
15th May 2022 and I don't think there are many cultivars that can give as much pleasure in a garden than Ariadne. Here is mine this morning fully open now.
Here goes, my first post. Just got this Ariadne recently. I was drawn to it early on in my plant hunting. I love the leaves. I find this forum extremely useful in my research. Cheers.
Good morning @GardenCycles and welcome to the maples forum, you couldn't start with a better cultivar on the forum than Ariadne, it is up there with the very best IMO. Yours looks wonderful.
