Hi Emery, You should wait a little and post several pictures during the season ;-)). The look in your picture lasts only a few days in the spring. The pics below shows the quick evolution of the leaves between early March (it is one of the first to leaf out) and early April. Then it is green all summer long. It is also a slow grower. Gomero

Anyone have experience with the heat tolerance of this maple? Per Dawes Arboretum: "species of maple reputedly much more heat tolerant than selections of the typical Japanese maple.
