Lovett is an upright japonicum best known for its spectacular fall color (like most japonicums). It has a dense habit and has a full circular crown which is most attractive. This photo was taken May 10, 2007. While not a palmatum, it's a lovely addition to a maple garden, especially if one is looking for wonderful autumn color.
Here we have an autumn photo (taken 10-17-07) showing what japonicums do so well. I bought this cultivar because it showed lots of vivid autumn colors on a compact and rather densely-leafed tree, and it did not disappoint.
Lovett is a pleasant green Japonicum, not very spectacular until fall. I got mine as a first year graft and it's about 2-3 years old in this photo.
