J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co. introduction. From their website: Predictably narrow form and upright branch structure make this tough and adaptable cultivar a perfect choice for space challenged landscapes. Its rocket-like shape is tailored for plantings where seedling-sourced Acer griseum of variable genetics may not mature to be a good fit. An all-season beauty that delivers winter interest with satin smooth bark that exfoliates in coppery curls. Purchased and planted in March 2021. Pictures taken in December 2021.
Love it. Now there is space for everyone to have a griseum in their garden. Yours looks wonderful. Thanks for sharing this. D
Their promotional material is giving representative dimensions of 25 x 12 ft. There are other paperbark maples in North America that are 40 ft. tall or more. So when one of these Schmidt selections is that high its width will be proportionately greater than 12 ft. also. Otherwise note that calling it Copper Rocket paperbark maple (as below) is incorrect. Because Copper Rocket (in this context) is a trademark and those are never things. With in this instance the tree itself being identified by an intentionally unpronouncable, commercially oriented cultivar name. Copper Rocketâ„¢ Paperbark Maple (jfschmidt.com)
