Hi, Have patience, I'm a newbie here with an acer circinatum that has leaves with a strange pattern of dying. I didn't know if it is leaf scorch or some virus. The pictures are attached (if I'm lucky!). It the strange, patterned way the leaves are sick that concerned me. The tree has always been containered, though repotted and root pruned every 5 years or so. It is in a lightweight, terra cotta looking pot, that has been put inside a 15 gal. ceramic pot. Even with this arrangement, I haven't had any problems with this maple. It's at least 15 years old. I have 6 other maples, acer palmatums all; some bonsaied, some containered (and not bonsai). Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Looks to me like it got too hot/dry and sunburnt at some stage recently. Being in a pot is very stressful for a plant like this that likes a cool, shady, constantly moist root run.
The images look a bit virus-like, but I think it's just the way the image came out. I got a bunch of leaves like that, and worse, on my newly planted vine maple trees, mainly due to the weather a few weeks ago.
