This pretty maple is not terribly reliable, but when it shows it is very flashy indeed. Difficult to get a good picture of it, but the red of new leaves contrasts nicely with green and heavy cream in the variegation. It's also a vigorous grower.
almost completely reverted. I tried to restore by cutting, but no luck. I think that's why you almost never see it any more. Funny, another easily reverting campestre, 'Carnival', mine is almost gone. The remaining variegated leaves are almost pure white, and very small. However, it has thrown a healthy branch which is (drumroll) Magic Spring! Exactly, yellow cream, rays, the whole match. I was unable to graft it before, will try again this winter. But I expect it will only be a curiosity, too unstable for the market.
Aw man, that sucks. Sound like the continuous clip and grow bonsai method might be the way for this one. I hope those grafts come out prefect for you.
