I planted an Acer Brilliantissimum last summer - In the autumn the leaves started to turn brown and curl up. The same thing appears to be happening now - minus the curling. the leave shave turned really dry and started to change from yellow to brown. Do i need to feed the tree? Does it have an infestation of critters? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi Granty, Might check the underside of the good leaves for aphids, any bark damage, fried from the sun, or lack of water. A photo may help, if possible.

I don't think it could be over watering - it's been quite dry here - my garden has a lot of clay soil though. What do you meab by "freeze" -frost damage?

    thanks for your reply.

It's blackfly - i saw the little buggers on the leaves this morning. Pesticide should get rid of them. Thanks for your thoughts anyway.

    cheers,

    Granty
