Identification: A type of vetch?

    We saw these stalks of mauve, pea-like blossoms growing wild beside a country road in the North Peace region of BC. The 18 to 30-inch stalks stood independently rather than clinging like a vine. Might they be a type of vetch? I would appreciate help identifying these plants.
