I have just returned from the Dominican Republic where I visited El Choco National Park near Cabarete on the north-west coast.

During a guided exploration of the forest I photographed portions of a seed which the guide told us were often used by local artisans. The seeds, pictured below, can be carved to resemble a dolphin and then added to a necklace.

In my haste to photograph it I was searching the forest floor and not listening well enough when he identified the plant it came from.

Can anyone help me to ID it? I thought perhpas it came from a Clusia sp. of which many open pods were present it the area.

    Thanks,
    Michael
