This fruit is smooth skinned and the taste (don't know if it's mature) is bland. It's about 1.5 inches in diameter, and has a flowering end similar to a loquat. Any ideas?
Because of the smooth skin, persimmon was also my thought. But the seeds don't match any varieties I know of.
Could it be a Poma Rosa (Szygium jambos)? Although your identification of a bland flavour makes me doubt this; Poma Rosa taste very strongly of roses.
Why not a Loquat Eriobotrya japonica? The seed looks about right too. Definitely not a persimmon, they don't have that persistent calyx at the fruit apex.
