A plant my grandma gave me before she died is dying! help!!

I have this really interesting plant and I have been told it looks somewhat like a dracaena, but I have a dracaena and I don't think this is what it is... so please could someone help me?? Not only would I like to know what it is but I would like to keep it from dying on me!

 

It looks like Pleomele reflexa (currently Dracaena reflexa).

 

Thank you! Do you know what I should do to keep it from dying? I am going to replant it in better soil and I was reading up and it said not to water it alot, so I'll start there...
