Just bought myself a new tree, not yet into leaf
Anybody have any previous experience of this one?

A couple of years ago I photographed a tree with this name at Westonbirt that was clearly a different cultivar to that described in Vertrees. Don't know if it was a one-off misnamed plant or evidence of a wider mix up in the trade, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

My purchase seems to have come from Holland
Esveld describes the tree as being burgundy.
Vertrees describes it as a variegated variety
Book for Maples says new leaves are yellow/green with red tips, turning green in summer and red to scarlet in autumn
Maples for Gardens states new leaves are almost crimson, turning reddish green with slight sometimes absent variegation
Seems as though there are very different plants out there competing for the name :)
I will post pics when it leafs out

Here's the one from Westonbirt, spring 2009, I looked in Book For Maples and it is nothing like that one either:

Not sure (can't tell from the pictures) if it is the same tree featured on Esveld website, that one is listed as located at Westonbirt also.

The one I have is also as described in the book 'Maples for Gardens'. Origin Holland but not Esveld.
