This is a new one for me - after 11 years of hiking in the tundra.

    Anyone know what they are?

Location Popof island in the Shumagins - south of Alaska Peninsula.

These little yellow flowers are growing among moss berries or crow berries and most of the small green leaves are from those plants.

This "circle" drawn by grass and wind is thanks for your trouble.

Could it be a Sedum sp.?

I looked online and found Sedum sp. (Crassulaceae), but the flower had more than 5 petals.

I also looked in Wildflowers of Denali National Park. They have a picture of Thyme-Leaf Saxifrage/Saxifraga serpyllifolia which has five petals and similar stalk leaves and the stamen are very similar. I looked and couldn't differentiate between the moss berry leaves and the yellow flower at ground level. The Thyme-leaf saxifrage has a nice little cluster of leaves at ground level. Naturally, it was cool and blowing and I'd been out for about 9 hours. Doesn't help with taking a close look.

Here's a closeup of one of the pictures I took. Notice the leaves at the base.
