My wife recently planted a cherry tree that seems to be having some trouble on one of it's branches. It looks like it's actually 6 different cherry trees grafted onto one stalk. There was sap coming out of two spots on one of the limbs. I scraped the sap off to look for holes left by insects. On one, I saw something that looked like it might be a hole, I poked it with a nail, and it didn't give. I don't know if this is because the sap is too hard, or if it's not really a hole. The other spot that sap was leaking doesn't appear to have a hole. I'm tempted to chop everything off from the spot where it seems to still be alive, but first I figured I'd poke around the net to see if I could find a forum where I could get some advice. I've taken some pictures of the branch/tree/and removed sap (I removed it before taking pictures, I probably shouldn't have) One thing I find somewhat odd is, see the clump of dead leaves on the bottom, just in front of the living leaves? That clump actually is located a few inches before the first spot that sap was leaking out. It has me worried that it could be some kind of disease working it's way downward from where the sap was located. Hopefully somebody can give us some advice :) Thanks! Miles
