a mini banana?

    This banana is but 5 feet tall and the fruit is but 2-3 inches...anybody have an ID?

    Grows in my garden on the SW coast of Mexico.

    i don't know what they are called but they sell them in the local market where I used to live in Tizapan in DF. You probably need to contact Lorax and ask her what they are. She knows a more than anybody else I know about Bananas and varieties.

    Looks like M. laterita to me, the red cultivar. Salt, M. dasycarpa (formerly M. velutina, it's undergone a name change) has bright pink fuzzy fruits even when they're immature.
