I get really upset seeing the big tree in NYC, they kill a 100+ year old tree each year, why havn't they planted one there yet. Anyway since i'm starting up a bonsai hobby my next thought should be clear already. Is it safe to pot some 1-3 year pines for some friends for their xmas tree? They are still in the ground and we have had snow, so ittl be work digging them up if they should survive. Can i do this? If i can, how do i minimize the transplant shock? Happy Holidays and go living tree if u can :) or fake tree with pine essential oil for the smell.
No, you shouldn't pot 'em: - it's better to do this at the beginning of spring; - your firends will (probably) keep the tree indoor....
