I have used Barthelemy Maples for years.
They contributed to the Plantsman diaries YouTube videos last year from episode 14 being featured most weeks and then in the continuation series this year.
Everything is covered from seed sowing to grafting.
Here’s a link to episode 14, they are featured from around 21 minutes

Good morning J, what a great video. It does show that this is a proper nursery and not a place that sells garden furniture etc etc. If that is what you want then you will be sorely disappointed when you do make a visit there.
But for me and other enthusiasts on this forum from England, it is maple heaven and all very healthy stock to choose from.
The video also highlights something I talked about last year on the MS forum.

We do need younger people coming through.

Derek, it’s worth watching the whole series up to week 52 and then the follow ins from this year. Most weeks have content from the Barthelemys. anything from the link (week14) onwards

Most certainly is, colourful language for sure. But really enjoyable, especially the grafting which is featured more than once. They make it look so easy.

No bagging of the grafts, they just remove the leaves to stop dehydration.

Would be interesting to here what Otto says about this, being an ex professional. Wonder what the success rate percentage wise actually is?

I love the place and have bought from them for likely 30 years.
It’s worth watching every episode from 14 onwards, fast fwd. if only interested in maples as most episodes feature Barthelemys.
They cover everything from seed sowing, grafting, pruning, trials of running the nursery and the devastating impact covid had with the loss of 8,000 late potted maples if I remember correctly.
They couldn’t get compost of pots when the pandemic hit and had to pot late and lost the lot.
