Hello! Can anyone tell the name behind the dew? http://www.surlaroute.net/008-20050917PR(DSCN6397).jpg Spotted last Saturday in Boston Bassin (Cascade river area, Northern Washington), going up toward the Quien Sabe glacier at around 1500 m elevation. Thanks! Pascal
Thanks again Ron! Fireweed... hmmmmm My question are not really challenging because I don't know anything about flowers. So, being a complet newbie, I wonder if there is an easily searchable online database with photo for newbie that I could use before posting here? Pascal
I'm afraid there isn't one that exists that would be really suitable for someone starting out. Most online databases typically require prior knowledge. Some that are easily browseable are too comprehensive, providing too many options - common plants are buried among uncommon ones - see CalPhotos - Plants as an example. The best avenue is a book with common plants for the region, like "Plants of the Pacific Northwest Coast" by Pojar and MacKinnon, which should be in most libraries locally.
I have a taken a lot of photos of the flowers from this area, tne North-west, that may help you ID some. If you are interested just click WILDFLOWERS NW
Wow! that's great! I just visited your page. Thanks Kildale! I have put the pic of the flower I was talking about back on my Web. That will tell you how much of a beginner I am! :o) Thanks again and have a great day! cheers Pascal
