I have a lot fewer photos than I was hoping, as I was trying out a new camera app for my HTC phone, which did not improve the results from the camera hardware/software supplied with the phone. So here's just a tree shot of the Sorbus yuana that's near the entrance to the garden. I think it's even more colourful than I've seen it before. If you're into Sorbus fruit colour, this is definitely the time to visit the garden. Have a look around when you're at the apple festival this weekend. Also in the Asian garden, the some of the maples are starting to colour up. Not that I got any leaf colours, but here's the bark of an Acer griseum. On the other side, in the Carolinian Forest, the sky cleared up just before we went past this sumac. This tree is not what I thought it was, and we didn't find the sign, so I don't know what it is. It was visible from the path after the tunnel.
Oh, funny. Or pathetic is more like it. I saw that name on my list of trees I'm supposed to recognize, in many cases because I've had them identified in postings, but I skipped right over it. Now I see that I did two postings of Koelreuteria last year, one in the UBC garden (different specimen, with an interpretive sign) and one in the West End, on which I kept looking for flowers or fruits for a long time but then forgot about. Maybe I'll remember it now. Thanks, Ron.
