Yet a few more plants from our walk yesterday that we are trying to identify:

    1) A low ground cover with a pleasant odor when crushed. We are guessing Glechoma hederacea (creeping charlie).
    2) Another loc growing plant with dark green leaves and small sharp barbs in the center of the leaf. We are not sure, but it looks somewhat like primrose.
    3) A medium sized tree with a cool leaf pattern. The leaves grow radially out from the stem. We could not find this in our tree book.
    4) We think this plant is Chenopodium album (Lamb's quarters) but based on our lack of success in identifying plants, want some verification.
    5) Virginia creeper?

    1. Alliaria petiolata
    2. Primula sp.
    3. Cotinus coggygria
    4. Chenopodium album
    5. Parthenocissus quinquefolia

(Sorry, I don't know the english common names... :(

    1. Alliaria petiolata - Garlic Mustard
    2. [Primula sp. - plants in the genus include: Primrose, Cowslip, Oxlip]. However, this plant looks more like Dipsacus fullonum (Teasel) to me.
    3. Cotinus coggygria - Smoke bush
    4. Chenopodium album - Fat-hen
    5. Parthenocissus quinquefolia - Virginia Creeper

OK, thank you both. I just looked this up on Google images and this is the only photo I could find of this plant in its first year:

None of my plant books show this rosette stage.
