Four pots of cucumbers were started in the greenhouse for transplanting outdoors at the end of May. This gives the plants an early start about a month ahead of planting the seed directly into the ground. Four seeds in each pot two Cross Country and two National Pickling. Cucumber seeds germinate at high temperatures about 30 degrees C. I find planning two varieties improves pollination. I expect approximately 150 pounds of produce over a four week period. When transplanting the roots are not disturbed even if this means cutting the pot open.

You don't say anything about thinning your Cucumber seedlings. Do you grow in the garden all four plants so closely together as they are in a pot?
Will each group of four produce 15 kg of cucumbers in four weeks?

This is from previous years. I plant three or four together along a bit of a trellis. They are so prolific that I can hardly keep up in processing them. Cucumbers make excellent juice. Usually four hills in eight feet with trellis wires on each side of the bed about three feet wide. This tends to contain them somewhat and keeps the fruit off the ground.

Four pots of cucumbers grown about six weeks in the greenhouse were planted outdoors. Roots of cucumbers should not be disturbed when transplanting, since it inhibits growth severely.

Cucumbers have stated to produce. Cross country is excellent for juicing and slicing, and pickling. The hybrid is most prolific. The female flower emerges with a small cuke attached and the male without. It is possible to pollinate with a small paint brush. If the female is not pollinated then the cuke dies and falls off. With the shortage of bees in my garden I contemplated hand pollination, but apparently not necessary now, since fruit is forming.

Excess to needs, cucumbers were made into juice. Some collards were added which were available. Seven liters of juice was pressure canned at 15 PSI for 15 minutes. Pictures depict the process.
