“The Lichen Cult's Second Annual Spooky Night Walk: October 30th 4:15pm-6:15pm. Location TBD. We will walk along trails and look at lichens, learning basic ID, ecology, and theory along the way. Then as night falls we will use our UV light to help us learn more about lichens. Bring your own regular flashlights for safe night walking! (Sunset will be at 5:56pm). The Lichen Cult is a community science group devoted to lichens. The Lichen Cult started as a series of free lichen walks for members of marginalized communities, and is now open to all, with the understanding that together we are committed to facilitating a safe space for everybody to learn about lichens. Those who participate in Lichen Cult events are expected to uphold values of inclusivity, equity, anti-racism, and respect for the Sovereignty of Indigenous Territories we find ourselves in. Lichen Cult walks are free! If you are financially plentiful and want to pass a few bucks to the facilitators (to help us pay for gas or help fund our lichen research) we are very grateful for your support.
