UPDATED INFO: Galiano Mushroom Festival Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3-4, on Galiano Island Events: Free public mushroom foray on Friday, Nov. 3 beginning at 2 pm, led by visiting mycologists Shannon Berch and Sharmin Gamiet. - Participants are asked to meet at 2 pm outside the South Galiano Community Hall (141 Sturdies Bay Road), to receive directions to the foray location(s), arrange car pooling, etc. On Saturday, Nov. 4 the public is invited to come to the South Galiano Community Hall from 10 am to 4 pm to view a display of identified mushrooms collected on the island, and to bring their own specimens for identification. - Admission is free, and in addition to the array of mushrooms on display, there will be several other natural history displays in the hall during the Festival. - An always popular mushroom-themed lunch will be available for purchase. - At 1:30 pm Shannon Berch will give a talk about native and cultivated truffles of BC.
