I have questions on 2 plants, actually 1 tree and 1 plant.

The tree was blooming the end of June, very fragrant, shiny dark heart shaped leaf with white flowers that hung down. The tree was located in SE Washington state near Walla Walla area. I will attach a picture,

The second plant is one in a friends flower bed that I think may be a type of thistle. It has leaves with prickly ends and a bluish flower... I can't really identify it. The bottom most leaves are quite different from the leaves nearer the flowers. The bottom leaves are quite long and wide and are not at all prickly.

    Please help...
