I have 2 plants I'd like to identify. The first is a weed that I sprouted all over my yard. The plant itself is just under knee high, I'd say and the largest of the leaves is larger than my spead open hand. They grow very quickly, and I believe the came in a bag of grass seed I spread a few weeks ago. The stem is very soft and juicy. The second is a very small evergreen shrub. When the needles are crushed, it gives off a very pleasant smell. I think it grows small yellow flowers. From the picture, the seed heads are visible. I really like it, but it's current location is pretty suceptible to mower damage. I'd like to either replant it or buy a new one for a safer location. Thanks, Laura
1. Jimsonweed http://www.holoweb.com/cannon/jimsonwe.htm 2. Might be Santolina rosmarinifolia (virens) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:SantolinaRosmarinifolia.jpg
Great! Thanks for the info and the warning! My 6 month old son loves to pull leaves from plants and eats just about anything. I think I'll pull it up and take it to nursery I got the grass seed from. Not thrilled to have a toxic plant in the yard. And the second plant photo provided does look like what I've got!
