Eight kale plants were placed in the outdoor garden at one foot spacing. The plants were purchased in flats and placed in separate pots to establish a strong root system in the greenhouse for about two weeks. The row was covered with wood chip mulch, which is my normal custom, to retain moisture.

What kind of Kale do you grow? My Kale Lacinato Redbor used to grow 3' x 31/2'. Here are two images that I have also posted on my website.

I grow whatever the supplier has. I grew the large one you have in the photos. I harvest the leaves continually to keep small as much as possible. I use them for juice.

Kale Broccoli,Collards were Injun cooked, all in one pot, and made into juice. Some basil and one onion was added.A total of ten liters was obtained and seven were pressure canned at 15 PSI for 15 minutes for long term storage at room temperature. This is the only fresh garden vegetables available at this time. Pictures depict the process.
